About Green Drain

We believe every drain should be a barrier, not a pathway.

Green Drain invented the waterless trap seal to solve a problem most people don't think about until it's too late: what comes back up through your floor drains.

THE PROBLEM

Floor drains are the most overlooked vulnerability in any building.

Every floor drain connects directly to the sewer system. When the water in a P-trap evaporates, that connection becomes an open pathway for sewer gas, insects, bacteria, and dangerous aerosols to enter occupied spaces.

This isn't a rare edge case. Trap seal loss happens in virtually every commercial building, hospital, restaurant, and school. The results range from odor complaints to verified pathogen transmission events.

85%

of commercial buildings experience trap seal loss in infrequently used floor drains

58

peer-reviewed studies document the risks of unsealed floor drains

OUR SOLUTION

A one-way valve that replaces the need for water.

Green Drain is a silicone one-way valve that drops into any standard floor drain. It opens to allow water flow and closes automatically to create a permanent seal against everything that shouldn't come up: gas, odors, insects, and pathogens.

No water required. No moving parts to maintain. No power source. Just a mechanical seal that works every time.

OUR STORY

From a simple question to a global standard.

Green Drain started with a question that no one in the plumbing industry was asking: why are we still relying on water to seal drains?

The Origin

Identifying the gap

Traditional P-traps rely on a small amount of standing water to block sewer gas. When that water evaporates, which it does in every infrequently used drain, the seal breaks. Green Drain was founded to eliminate this fundamental weakness.

The Engineering

Building the waterless trap seal

We developed a silicone one-way valve that creates a mechanical seal without water. Three US patents protect the core technology. The design had to be simple enough to drop in without tools and durable enough to last years without maintenance.

The Validation

Tested, certified, peer-reviewed

Green Drain earned 13 industry certifications including cUPC, ASSE 1072, and NSF/ANSI 2. Our approach is supported by decades of peer-reviewed research on drain-based transmission risks in healthcare and commercial environments.

Today

Protecting buildings worldwide

Green Drain is now installed in hospitals, restaurants, schools, government buildings, and commercial facilities across 6 continents. From a single product to a full range of sizes covering 1.25" to 6" drains.

OUR PRINCIPLES

What drives every decision we make.

Science first

Every claim we make is backed by testing data or peer-reviewed research. We don't sell fear. We present evidence and let facility teams make informed decisions.

Simplicity by design

If a solution requires specialized tools, trained technicians, or constant maintenance, it isn't a real solution. Green Drain installs in seconds and works for years.

Build for the long term

We engineer products that last, form partnerships that endure, and focus on problems that matter. Drain safety isn't a trend. It's a building fundamental.
